    Scope and Content:

These materials, which were collected by the Honorable Temple Houston Morrow, grandson of Samuel and Margaret Lea Houston, reveal the life of the Sam Houston Family through letters, which were composed principally by Mrs. Houston; and through assorted documents and receipts, which recorded some of the business transactions of the family during that era. The Sam Houston’s correspondence are from the period when he served Texas as a United States Senator and as Governor of the state. It also includes some letters written by Sam Houston, Jr., when he served with a confederate artillery battery in Louisiana.
