Abstract
Description
The book was presented by Mrs. Sol Davis of Spur, Texas, after whose father the camp was named. Colonel John A. Green of Dickens, Texas, served in The Confederate Army Of North Virginia. He was transferred to Black Horse Cavalry, and was a Staff Officer under General Stonewall Jackson at the Battle of Chancellorsville. He was later a lawyer and County Land Surveyor.
The Colonel John A. Green Camp was founded ca. 1920 through the efforts of Mrs. Davis, and its members lasted into the 1930s.
The record book contains not only a roster of Camp No. 1461 members, but also a handwritten chronicle by Mrs. Davis of events held by Chapter (such as reunions, holiday celebrations, etc.), meeting minutes, the election of board members, and other notable events during the Camp’s existence.
