Dated between 1942-1974, the Tech Tips handbooks were produced by the University Panhellenic Association, the Resident Associations and Councils, and the Association of Women Students at Texas Tech University. They were primarily published as guides for female students, though ones for male students began being offered in 1961. The handbooks described Housing and Dining fees and policies, university traditions, and various campus organizations a student could join.

The content of the women’s handbooks is of interest for their descriptions of social etiquette and requirements, dress expectations and curfew restrictions, particularly in contrast with the contents of the male version of the handbooks. Other universities and college are known to have produced similar types of handbooks for their female students.
