Abstract

Description

The digital file consists of four issues of the Tex Talks publication published by the Texas Tech Ex-Students Association. The January, 1951, issue is ten pages long and includes the topics of Sammy Baugh as the new Tech Foundation Board Member; the resignation of coach Dell Morgan and professor Cecil Horne; names of alumni donors; Mrs. Louise C. Allen's work in the Journalism Department and writing a syndicated column; and over 200 Tech men volunteering for the armed forces.
The April, 1951, issue is four pages long and includes such topics as construction of the Student Union Building; the hiring of coach DeWitt Thompson Weaver; the Raider Basketball team in a tie for second place in the Border Conference; Carl Coke Rister being named First Distinguished Professor of Texas Tech; and 36 foreign students attending Tech.
The August, 1951, issue is eight pages long and includes such topics as the formation of new chapters of the Ex-Students Association; the Raider Basketball team's tough schedule; changes in faculty statuses; and the Textile Department being featured in the July issue of Textile Age publication.
The October, 1951. issue is four pages long and includes such topics as enrollment figures; upcoming planned class reunions; the addition of 24 new faculty; and the ending of Texas Tech's building boom.
