Abstract

Description

Undated photograph of Richard Bruce Amandes, U. V. Jones and W. B. Weaver looking at a stack of boxes filled with law books for the newly established Texas Tech School of Law.
The photo is likely taken in 1966 when the Texas Tech Law School opened. The accompanying press release cut line reads "LAW BOOKS GIVEN TECH -- Texas Tech Law Dean Richard B. Amandes, right, and Law School Librarian U. V. Jones, left, express their gratitude to Cities Service Oil Company attorney W. B. Weaver of Midland for some 300 cases containing 4,000 volumes valued at approximately $17,000. The law books, many now out-of-print and unavailable, were given to Tech's law school since the company is consolidating its legal activities at Tulsa and Bartlesville, Okla. (Tech Photo)"
