PBPM 79-039.045.02 Inscription (on back): Billy Thomson, Jr. and friends House and bunkhouse in background Abrams (Texas & Pacific) No. 1 discovery well Westbrook Field, Mitchell County, Texas. W. W. (Billy, Jr. - not really) Thomson and friends playing on some old "rag rope" (Manila) line used to pad "bull" wheel and some wire line drilling cable near old camp shack in the Westbrook Field in Mitchell County, Texas. This picture was taken some years after the one showing the original "house" of W. J. and Clara with a much younger W. W. (Billy Jr.) Thomson in the foreground. Note: Bill Thomson was the head driller on and of the Underwriters Producing & Refining Company's Abrams (Texas & Pacific Railway Co. Land Trust) Well No. 1 which was the first paying producer of oil in the entire Permian Basin, spudded in 1919 and completed in 1920.en_US
