Negative of Texas Tech students wrapping the Will Rogers Statue in the colors of the African Flag for the kickoff of Black History Month taken on February 1, 1993. The Black Student Association and the Saddle Tramps co-sponsored the wrapping ceremony in a show of unity in response to the October 1992 Party in the Projects mixer backlash. Two of the students in the image are Sonya Myles, 1992 Homecoming Queen (second from the left), and Telea Johnson, President of the Black Student Association (second from the right). Page 3 of the February 2, 1993 issue of The University Daily contains a story on the wrapping ceremony.en_US
