Photograph of the autographed time capsule and some of its contents. On September 24th, members of the Board of Regents signed a resolution conveying their best wishes to mark the future dedication of the Recognition Garden's time capsule. In the fall of 1988, any member of the Texas Tech community was given the opportunity to contribute to a time capsule to be buried in the Arts and Sciences Recognition Garden, a "project to raise funds to bring America's top students and teachers to Texas Tech while also beautifying the campus and recognizing friends and alumni" (Lubbock A-J, November 12, 1988). A time capsule burial ceremony was then held on December 1, 1988, and the capsule is scheduled to be opened in 2038.en_US
