dc.description | Negative of a portrait of George Tate with a horse. In 1936, Tate, dressed in cowboy boots, a mask and a scarlet cape, made a sudden appearance during the September 26, 1936, Texas Tech vs. TCU football game on horseback and quickly disappeared afterward. His appearance astride the horse Tony was the first unsanctioned "Ghost Rider" showing at a Texas Tech home football game. The "Ghost Rider' is the precursor to the official Masked Rider mascot. | en_US |
