Abstract

Description

73 page application submitted by the City of Coleman to the Locating Board for Texas Technological College. The application with accompanying maps cover such topics as population distribution with Abilene, Coleman, Sweetwater, and Lubbock as the centers; scholastic and high schol enrollment; meteorological data about Coleman; natural resources such as water, fuel and oil; transportation lines and facilities; and statements regarding the medical situation in Coleman. The black and white photographs are of the Coleman High School, Southland (sp?) School, the digging of "Lake Scarborough 6 1/2 miles North West"; bridge over Pecan Bayou State Highway #23; the Methodist Church; the Baptist Church; the Presbyterian Church; and First Christian Church. The application also gives descriptions and plats for two different sites for the new college.
