Sloan [Hall of Famer] Early, successful Mitchell County, Texas oil "wildcatter". Born in Stephens County, Texas; died January 1, 1929 in crash of his light, high-winged Fairchild momoplane (powered with 90 HP OX5 water cooled motor). Crash occurred near Colorado City, Texas Country Club where his friend, Kate Justice, was hostess - Sloan was a WWI combat ace & Justice was an Army nurse in France WWI. 10-12-79 Lee Jones, Jr.en_US
