Abstract

Description

Negative of artists John Meigs and Manuel Acosta holding up examples of their own paintings. A similar version of this image appeared on the cover of Section II of the November 147 1954 issue of the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal with an article announcing the upcoming dedication ceremony for the mural. The caption accompanying the photo states "ARTISTS WHO HELPED IN MURAL - John Meigs, left, and Manuel Acosta, were assistants to Artist Peter Hurd in the painting of the fresco mural in the Museum at Texas Tech which will be dedicated Thursday night. Both are artists in their own right, however. Above, Meigs has one of his paintings, entitled "Stake Corral," and Acosta has one of his which he calls "Portrait of Frances."
