dc.descriptionNegative of Texas Tech students attending the Black History Month kickoff ceremony in Memorial Circle taken on February 1, 1993. As part of the ceremony, the African flag was raised in Memorial Circle and members of the Black Student Association released red, green, gold and black balloons with attached colored cards stating BSA's theme for February, "Unifying us...our campus, our world." The woman pictured in the black and gold suit is Telea Johnson, President of the Black Student Association. Page 3 of the February 2, 1993 issue of The University Daily contains a story on the unification ceremony.en_US
