David Garner Moorman was born on July 3, 1939 in Tyler, Texas. He received a B.S. in Agricultural Economics from Texas Technological College in 1959 and his M.S. from Texas Tech in 1963. He also attended Texas A&M from 1963-1966. Moorman was hired as a assistant professor in Agricultural Economics in 1970 and resigned his position in 1971.
