Photograph of Joe Kim King as the Masked Rider with a young boy, Jeff Diles, who is sitting on the horse Happy V. The image appears in the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal with the following information - "Red Raider applicant - for 1982, that is - Jeff Diles takes a few pointers from the current Texas Tech University masked rider mascot, Kim King. Twelve-year-old Diles applied for the 1982 Red Raider slot six years ago when he was in kindergarten. Diles and King discuss Red Raider duties over Happy V, Red Raider’s current mount."
