Ada Vivian Johnson Adams was born on March 29, 1897, in San Marcos, Texas. She received her B.S. in 1924 from Southwest Texas State Teachers College and her M.A. in 1927 from the Teachers College of Columbia University. Both degrees were in Home Economics. Adams was hired on as an assistant professor at Texas Technological College in 1928 as the seventh member of the Home Economics staff and was promoted to acting dean starting in 1935. She retired in 1962.
