Photograph of Richard Bruce Amandes, the first Dean of the Texas Tech Law School, and Al Allison taken on August 18, 1966.
Richard Bruce Amandes was born on March 29, 1927, in Berkeley, California. He received his LL.B. in 1953 from the University of California Hastings College of the Law and his LL.M in 1956 from New York University School of Law. He served as the Associate Dean and Robert W. Harrison Professor of Law at the University of California, Hastings College of Law before becoming the first dean of the new established School of Law at Texas Technological College in 1966. He left Texas Tech on August 31, 1977.
