Abstract

Description

Photograph of a group with an oversized spool of lights. The accompanying press release taped to the back of the photograph states "SHADES OF CHRISTMAS -- Building Maintenance Director Ray Downing gives a lesson in stringing Christmas lights on electrical wiring for Texas Tech University's annual Carol of Lights. The Tech co-eds will help string 28,000 multi-colored lights on 42,000 feet of wiring to outline 10 campus buildings. The lights will be switched on Dec. 7 to remain on nightly through the holiday season and the public is invited to visit the campus during the holidays to view the spectacle. The Carol of Lights is sponsored by the Women's Residence Council (WRC) and Penny Merritt, El Paso sophomore, seated, is chairman of the program. Other co-eds, all WRC committee leaders, are from left, Betsy Lyde, Denison junior; Vicki Liston, Lorenzo junior; Trumanll Burgess, Abilene junior; Lynn Raitz, New Orleans graduate student and residence hall sponsor; and Ann Dearmore, Liberty junior.
