Abstract
Description
Photograph of a group of people having a meal around a table in 1966. The accompanying press release states "ROOFTOP LUNCHEON AT TEXAS TECH -- A ceremony marking the completion of the first section of the roof slab for Weymouth Hall in Texas Tech's Dossie M. Wiggins dormitory complex was highlighted Wednesday by an informal luncheon high atop the structure. Following a construction tradition, a tree was erected on the top of the building by M. L. Pennington, Tech's Vice President for Business Affairs and Chairman of the Campus Planning Committee. Committee members, project architects and representatives of the contractor joined Pennington for the luncheon. Seated here from the left around the table are Howard Schmidt, Weymouth Hall project architect; Dr. James Kitchen, Grounds Maintenance Director, representing committee member Elo Urbanovsky; Jerry Kirkwood, Committee Coordinator; Pennington; Homer May, general project superintendent; Ray Downing, Building Maintenance Director and architect Bob Messersmith. The architects and contractors served as hosts. The first phase of the complex is expected to be ready for occupancy by September of 1967."
