Description
Photograph of President E. N. Jones conferring the first doctoral degree at Texas Technological College in August of 1952. Estus C. Polk, a graduate student in English, received the first Ph.D. at Texas Tech. An article on Tech's first Ph.D. recipient can be found on page 12 of the September, 1952 issue of the Texas Techsan.
