Marlin Clinton Althaus was born on February 15, 1925, in Gillespie County, Texas. He received his M.B.A. from the University of Texas in 1956. He was appointed to the position of Assistant Professor of Accounting at Texas Tech University in 1970. Althaus later went on to teach at Sam Houston State University and was killed in a car crash in 1986.
