Description

Negative of Maurice Williams addressing a crowd during Black Week at Texas Tech taken on March 18, 1971. The students are gathered outside the Student Union Building. Slightly different versions of this image appear on page 35 of the Life section of the 1971 La Ventana yearbook with the caption "Kicking off the events of Black Week was an impromptu gathering of blacks headed by Maurice Williams in front of the University Center" and the cover page of the March 9, 1971 issue of The University Daily with the caption "Black Week began Monday in an attempt to convey black experiences and attitudes through a series of programs on black art, music, fashion and education."
