Description

Photograph of people watching the Tech Seal being placed in front of the fountain at the Broadway entrance to campus. The accompanying press release states "TEXAS TECH SEAL -- Phase II of the entrance marker at Texas Tech University neared completion Thursday (April 27) with the setting of the giant sunset red granite seal of the university on its base. The stone is two feet thick, 12 feet in diameter, and weighs 37,500 pounds. It is the largest single stone ever produced by Texas Granite Cooperation at Marble Falls, near Austin, and cost $18,555. The three-phase project is sponsored by the Saddle Tramps, Texas Tech University spirit organization."
