Abstract

Description

The "New Morning" newspaper is comprised of 12 pages of student written articles, satires and political statements. This issue covered topics such as Ralph Yarborough running for the Senate; a repeal call for the city's garbage service charge; denouncement of the liquor laws of Lubbock; support for the student book exchange; reform of the Texas Tech Student Senate; Tech alumnus Robert T. Mansker running for political office; a recap of the women's movement concerning abortion law hearings in the U.S.; the large number of young voters registered to vote in upcoming Lubbock elections; the 11th annual Young Socialists Alliance conference; an overview of an individual's rights when stopped or arrested by the police; vegetable gardening; the November 7, 1971, "March of Faith"; and protesting of Gibson's Discount Store's firing of 17 Plainview Chicanos without cause.
