Abstract
Description
Photograph of a female student looking at mounted newspapers covers taken on August 4, 1966. The accompanying press release states "NEW LOOK NEWSPAPER FOR GROWING INSTITUTION--Senior journalism honor student Cheryl Russell of Fort Worth compares present Texas Tech daily student newspaper 'The Toreador' with the larger one bearing the new title 'The University Daily' which will greet Tech's expected 19,000-plus students when they enroll for fall classes next month. Officials explained that the newspaper's size was increased and its name changed in keeping with recent action of the State Coordinating Board granting Tech university status. Miss Russell is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Claude D. Russell of Fort Worth."
