Description
Photograph of Elmer Tarbox pointing to his image in the 1939 Cotton Bowl game. The press release accompanying the photo states "A PLEASANT MEMORY--State Representative Elmer Tarbox of Lubbock, an alumnus of Texas Tech University, looks at a frame from the film of the Cotton Bowl football game of 1939 when Tech's Red Raiders lost to St. Mary's of Los Angeles, 13 to 20. In pregame ceremonies Tarbox visited with a comedian of the era, Rufus Davis. Tarbox rescued the film and others from a waste basket when athletics officials were removing materials of the Coach Cawthon regime from the football office. Tarbox has presented the films and other historic documents to the Southwest Collection at Texas Tech University. (Tech Photo)"
