Description
Undated photograph of “J. D. (Pop) Gray, Peace officer of N. Mex and West Tex. For 25 yrs 6 ft-2 in-210 lbs- Hobbs N. Mex.” He is wearing a large white cowboy hat, scarf and jacket. On the back of the image is “This sure is natural. I believe we showed him to you, didn’t we Pa? I knew him well at Hobbs, New Mexico. He stepped backward off a windmill tower and did not live long after that. He was a friend of the cowboys and oil field roughnecks.”
