"The Catalyst" is comprised of 12 pages of student written articles, satires and political statements. This issue covered topics such as encouraging Lubbock students to register to vote; criticism for a proposed civic center in Lubbock; announcement of the new Channing Club; Free University courses; the shooting of Ernesto Nerios by Lubbock police; political corrupt and upcoming elections in Texas; the earnings gap between men and women in the U. S.; music reviews of Jimi Hendrix's latest record and of a performance by the Don Caldwell Quintet Plus One group; recaps of upcoming environmental bills in the House and issues in the Senate; Attica Prison riot; and an interview with release of activist David Harris. The issue is the dated October 1971 and sold for 25 cents.
