Description

"The Catalyst" is comprised of 16 pages of student written articles, editorials, satires and political statements. This issue covered topics such as The Catalyst's printing difficulties due to the Lubbock Tornado and local presses refusing to print the underground paper; arrests and house searchers of staff members of The Catalyst; the breaking of the arm of Los Terulianos's president Billy Aquero by a Lubbock officer; Ralph Yarborough's loss in the elections to Lloyd Bentsen; death of civil rights protesters; underground newspapers; Nixon's administration invading Cambodia and the slayings at Kent State University; arts protesting the U.S. government; and music. The issue is the first summer edition, 1970, and sold for 25 cents.
Billy Aquero is most likely Bidal Aguero. "Billy" was his nickname.
