Description

"The Catalyst" is comprised of 8 pages of student written articles, editorials, satires and political statements. This issue covered topics such the banning of The Catalyst newspaper on the Texas Tech campus following the publication of issue no. 6; freedom of speech and religion issues; Dr. Grover Murray's hiring of vice-presidents; drug arrests and enforcement in Texas and national legislation; comparison of the University Daily versus The Catalyst; the public education system; racism in Lubbock and San Francisco; lack of observance of Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday in Lubbock; student pilots at Reese AFB; and a list of rumors on why The Catalyst is being banned from campus. The issue is dated February 1-10, 1970, and sold for 15 cents.
