ALWAYS REFRESHING ...Wherever You Are COCA-COLA BOTTLING CO. Lubbock, Texas 1615 Texas Fullback Walter Schlinkman, the thunderstorm from Dumas, is leading the Texas Tech scoring parade with hmr touchdowns for 24 points. Schlinkman broke an 18 to 18 deadlock with Don Austin last Saturday at Omaha when he ripped down the field 74 yards against the Creighton Bluejays, an amazing run that gave him his fourth touchdown of the season. Schlinkman is a sophomore but has been playing like a triple-senior all season. Six thousand fans stood and cheered his performance at Creighton when he carried the ball 31 times and gained 302 yards ...more yard- age than the entire Creighton rearn gained rushing. And don't worry, Mr. Schlinkman will give you another exhibition today that you will stand and acclaim ... he is that kind of football player ... always trying. Many fans have inquired about J. R. Callahan not playing in the Creighton game last Saturday. Coach Delicate Dell Morgan did not care to use Callahan due to the fare that the left halfback was suffering from an injured knee. Morgan left him out of the Creighton game in hopes he would be ready for Hardin-Simmons. He played about the last three minutes but figured in only one play. It is very doubtful if Doyle Caraway, the fine playing left guard, will be able to go against the Cowboys today. In the third per- iod of the Creighton game this Caraway got hot and tackled the entire Creighton team and as a result his right hand is broken in three different places. Coming back to Lubbock on the train he was talking it over with Coach Dell Morgan who told Caraway that he would not be able to play against the Cowboys. Caraway replied: "You just put a good strong cast on my hand and I'll be in there." But it is very doubtful if he will be in there even though he has a cast covering his hand. You may not believe it but in the Texas Tech and Creighton game the Bluejays threw 12 passes in the first three periods and completed II of them for 189 yards, one for a touchdown. They made it 12 out of 13 passes completed when they tossed one in the fading minutes of the fourth period for the ing touchdown. The Red Raiders were pass dizzy when the game terminated. We can't decide which was the worst football game this reason, the one with Texas A. and M. or Texas Tech and Creighton .... they both were far below the standard as played by these teams. In fact, Sclilinitman was the only Red Raider who gained any ground against Creighton ... I guess the other Raiders just felt bad or something like that. This will be the last home game for the Texas Tech Red Raiders this season and I believe they will give every ounce of their playing ability to win from Hardin-Simmons. After the Creighton game, the Raiders all stormed into the shower-bath room hollering that they wpuld beat Hardin-Simmons. When a team is in that kind of mood it helps a powerful lot and I am sure that you will see far better football from the Red Raiders today than the brand they played against a very weak Creighton game. Mobley scored the touchdown that beat the Baylor Bears and Southern Methodist. He collected 278 yards against Arizona University to give Hardin-Simmons a 34 to 26 victory. Mobley stacked up 1,033 yards rushing in the first six games for the Cowboys, to threaten "Whizzer" White's modern mark at Colorado of 1,321 yards in eight games. Mobley has scored 13 times. Two years ago, at Paducah High School, he was Texas' highest scorer in high school football. The Red Raid- ers will have to be on the alert each second of the game to halt this boy today.
